MoD Inks Mega Contract for 156 LCH Prachand Helicopters
What Happened
The Ministry of Defence signed two contracts worth Rs 62,700 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 156 LCH Prachand helicopters. The deal allocates 90 units to the Indian Army and 66 to the Indian Air Force to enhance combat capabilities.
Why It Matters
This is a major step toward Atmanirbhar Bharat, providing India with the world's only attack helicopter capable of landing and taking off at altitudes above 5,000 meters.
