Amaravati Quantum Valley

The Amaravati Quantum Valley is a planned quantum technology park and hub, envisioned as India's first integrated quantum ecosystem, located in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. It is a strategic initiative by the Andhra Pradesh Government to establish a world-class hub for quantum technologies, aligning with the goals of the National Quantum Mission (NQM). The concept was initiated in January 2025, and the foundation stone for the Amaravati Quantum Computing Center was laid on February 7, 2026, by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. The project aims to transform the nation from a technology consumer into a global sovereign power in deep tech.

The mechanism is driven by the Amaravati Quantum Valley Declaration (AQVD), a strategic framework approved by the Andhra Pradesh government in July 2025. The AQVD fosters a multi-stakeholder partnership involving the state government, global tech giants like IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and academic institutions. A key provision is the establishment of QChipIN, India's largest open quantum testbed, which will integrate quantum computers and QKD fibre links. The plan includes installing a powerful quantum computer, such as the 156-qubit IBM Heron processor (part of the Quantum System Two), with the goal of making the first quantum computer operational by December 2026. The Valley is designed to attract $1 billion in total investment by January 1, 2029, and focuses on four core areas: Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Quantum Sensing and Metrology, and Quantum Materials and Devices. It connects directly to the National Quantum Mission, which has an allocation of about ₹6,000 crore and is overseen by the Department of Science & Technology (DST). Recently, in April 2026, SRM University-AP established India's first Quantum Reference Facility (QRF) as a cornerstone of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Project.
