The Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB–G RAM G Act, 2025) is an Indian social welfare legislation that provides a statutory guarantee of the 'right to work' in rural areas. The Act was passed by Parliament on December 18–19, 2025, and came into force on July 1, 2026, to establish a revised framework for rural employment aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
The Act repeals and replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA). The core provision is the enhancement of the statutory guarantee from 100 days to 125 days of wage employment per financial year for every rural household whose adult members volunteer for unskilled manual work. If work is not provided within fifteen days of application, the household becomes eligible for a daily unemployment allowance.
The mechanism involves a shift in financial control and planning: the scheme operates as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with a 60:40 Centre–State cost–sharing ratio for most states, moving from a demand-driven model to a system of "normative allocation". Planning for works begins at the Gram Panchayat level, drawn from the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan, and is integrated into the Viksit Bharat National Rural Infrastructure Stack. The Act also mandates a work pause of up to sixty days during peak agricultural seasons and requires digital governance through biometric verification and geospatial tracking of works. The national average daily wage was revised from ₹298.8 to ₹327.4 under the new Act.
